Job Description:
ECA is on a mission to empower and transform Africa, guided by the 2030 SDGs and Agenda 2063. Join us as a Library Assistant, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and information in alignment with ECA's strategic directions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the acquisition of resources meeting organizational information needs.
- Contribute to cataloging operations using international bibliographic standards.
- Support the development of library policies and maintenance of metadata standards.
- Maintain relevant databases, ensuring accuracy and currency of data.
- Initiate claims, manage serials collection, and obtain updated materials for research requests.
- Provide technical support to library patrons in identifying information resources.
- Prepare and maintain web pages, including the design and production of the Knowledge Services subsite.
- Assist in the development and marketing of knowledge services and resources.
- Support library digitization operations and manage library accounts.
- Coordinate training of junior support staff and assist with data analysis and presentations.
Competencies:
- Professionalism in library operations, editorial standards, and cataloging.
- Client orientation with a focus on meeting clients' needs.
- Technological awareness, keeping abreast of applicable technology.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience:
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in library work, archives, or information network administration.
- Experience with troubleshooting Integrated Library Management System is desirable.
- Experience with the development of Libguides and library marketing materials is desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
Assessment:
Evaluation may include an assessment exercise followed by a competency-based interview.
